Initialization is a strategic act in Sandscapes. Here, the initial condition is not random noise but the pixel memory of an existing cultural work.
Each token decodes media associated with The Memes from Arweave and reorganizes its visual information as sand. The project is both homage and experiment: collective imagery is reanimated as generative matter, moving from meme to motion and from stored data to evolving texture.
The first 420 works from The Memes become 420 possible ecosystems. Still images, animation, video, and compatible HTML media can all enter the simulation, allowing open culture to continue changing each time it is encountered.
